On a brand new iPad2, audio may not work in some apps. Even with the volume turned up to the max, you may not hear anything.
The cause of the problem is the iPad2’s side Lock Rotation/Mute control. By default Lock Rotation is set. The solution is to change Lock Rotation to Mute and then toggle the Mute control.
These are the steps to resolve the issue:
- On the side of the iPad2, put the Lock Rotation/Mute control in to the OFF position.
- Press Settings
- Select General
- Under Use Side Switch to, select Mute
- On the side of the iPad2 device, use the Mute control to set the mute ON and then OFF.
- Now the audio should work in the apps. Increase volume if necessary.
